SECURITY FORCES MEDICAL CITY (SFMC)

Jeddah, KSA

The Security Forces Medical City is one of the largest medical investments in the GCC. The total area of the city is almost 2.5 million m2 of which the hospital is nearly 500.000 m2.

Airdeck was selected as the lightweight floor system for the hospital building. Flexibility in the project was very important and Airdeck came up with a tailor made drilling protocol to allow future drillings in the hospital building structure.

The project is currently under construction and over 350.000 m2 of Airdeck panels will be delivered.

SFMC 1

Lower reinforcement (including lattice girders) for the Airdeck elements is prepared in the factory

SFMC 2

The slab of 7cm is poured in the factory in Riyadh

SFMC 3

Airboxes are correctly positioned in the freshly poured concrete

SFMC 4

Curing process of the Airdeck elements

SFMC 5

Ready for transport. The elements can be stacked on top of each other.

SFMC 6

Special frames underneath the stack of plates make sure a safe transport can be done

SFMC 7

The lifting points are indicated for the contractor

SFMC 8

Special crosses are installed between the planks to make sure no cracks can occur

SFMC 9

Lifting at the construction site in Jeddah

SFMC 10

Unloading can be done by only a few workers.

SFMC 11

A stock can be build at the construction site if desired

SFMC 12

Each element has a unique identification number

SFMC 13

Lifting of the elements with a 8-points lifting system

SFMC 14

Installation of the elements on temporary supports

SFMC 15

Fast and secure installation

SFMC 16

Once the elements are installed, the upper reinforcement works can start

SFMC 17

The elements (and even the Airboxes) are safe to walk on

SFMC 18

Upper reinforcement is ready. The floor can be poured with concrete.

SFMC 19

Concrete pouring. Less concrete is needed because of the airboxes (void formers).
